Using the Dail-A-Ride Wheelchair Lift

Boarding with Mobility Devices
All vehicles are equipped with lifts that meet ADA specifications. They will accommodate mobility devices such as wheelchairs and three wheel scooters up to 48" by 30" with a total weight up to 600 pounds including the passenger. Mobility devices that exceed these requirements may not be transported.

• If you need a passenger lift to board a vehicle, the driver will assist you. All drivers are trained to operate these lifts.
• If needed you may also board the vehicle while standing on the lift. Drivers will not board a passenger who wishes to sit on the lift rather then stand.
• For your safety, please make sure your wheelchair or other mobility devices are maintained properly in accordance to manufacturer's specifications.
• All electric wheelchairs will need to remain OFF during loading, unloading, and transportation.

Using the Wheelchair Lift
1. Please position your wheelchair at least three feet back from the curb. The lift platform will extend approximately 18 inches from the curb. Please listen and carefully follow any instructions given by the driver.
2. Roll your chair forward onto the lift when the driver lowers the platform. Lock your wheelchair brakes. Once your chair is securely on the platform the driver will activate a safety barrier to prevent your chair from rolling.
3. Once the lift has been activated you will be raised to the level of the bus floor where you can unlock your brakes and move off the lift.
4. Your wheelchair must be properly secured and brakes set before the driver will move the bus. A seat belt is also provided for additional security. Please let the driver know if you need assistance in securing your wheelchair or fastening your seat belt.
5. At your stop the driver will raise the lift and activate the safety barrier so that you can carefully roll your chair onto the lift, facing outward and lock your brakes. When the lift reaches the ground, the safety barrier will lower and you will be able to wheel away from the lift.
