Transit Authority takes rain check on service
implementation
LANCASTER – Recent
inclement weather leading to construction delays for the Palmdale
Transportation Center
has required the Antelope Valley Transit Authority to postpone implementation of service
changes that were scheduled to begin on January
29, 2005.
Service changes including later evening hours, minor route
changes, introduction of Route 8 – a Palmdale shopper’s special, and the
eagerly anticipated move-in to the new Palmdale
Transportation Center
will now go into effect on March 5,
2005.
“The Palmdale Transportation
Center plays a major role in AVTA’s upcoming service changes,” said Randy Floyd, AVTA’s Executive Director, “and bad weather leading to construction
delays is something everyone can understand.”
Commuter service to Edwards Air Force Base will begin on the
29th of January as scheduled. All passengers, however, will board
the buses at Lancaster City
Park until the Palmdale
Transportation Center
is open. Commuters heading south will continue to use the Lancaster
City Park
and Pelona Vista Park & Ride facilities until the
Palmdale Transportation
Center opens.
