AVTA on a roll with new Executive Director
LANCASTER – The Antelope
Valley Transit Authority Board of Directors has officially named Randy Floyd as
the agency’s Executive Director. Floyd was asked by the Board in June 2004, to
serve as the interim executive director and was offered the permanent position
at the October 25,
2004 board meeting.
Chairman Henry Hearns
announced the Board’s decision and followed it with his expression of
appreciation and support of Floyd. “He’s home-grown,” said Hearns, “Randy knows
this agency inside and out, and we (the Board of Directors) feel he is the best
man for the job.”
Hearns gave credit to
The Mills Group, a Santa Ana based management recruitment firm that had been hired by AVTA to
replace Bill Budlong when he resigned in October 2003. Hearns said the Mills
Company was instrumental in convincing the Board of Directors that . . . AVTA
already had the right talent on board.
After a five month stint in the top position, the Board agreed.
AVTA is on a roll
with its new executive director, 43 new buses, and the new $21-million administration,
operations, and maintenance facility at 42210 6th Street West in Lancaster.
Floyd has served as AVTA’s Planning Manager for the past three years.
Before hiring on at AVTA, Floyd worked for the City of Palmdale as the Senior Analyst where he
also served on the Technical Advisory Committee for AVTA. Leaving the City of
Palmdale, Floyd went to work for Southern California Association of Governments
(SCAG) as the Sub-regional Coordinator in the Budget and Grants Division.
Randy Floyd may be reached for further comment at 729-2206.
Chairman Henry Hearns may be reached for further comment at 723-6019.
