Martin Tompkins
Executive Director/CEO
On November 23, 2021, the Antelope Valley Transit Authority Board of Directors appointed Martin J. Tompkins as the transit agency’s new executive director/CEO effective January 1, 2022. Martin previously served as COO/Senior Director of Operations and Planning and has been with AVTA off and on since 2006 and rejoined in 2019.
Martin has more than 35 years of experience in the transit industry in the private sector based in Los Angeles. He began his transit career as a bus operator and quickly rose in responsibility.
Over the past 25 years, Martin served as a general and regional manager for two major transportation corporations with responsibilities throughout California. Martin brings a wealth of transportation expertise to the Antelope Valley.
In 2007, Martin completed the leadership program at the University of South Florida and the Center for Urban Transportation Research. Away from the office, Martin enjoys time with his wife of 30-plus years, their two children, and two grandchildren, watching Raiders football and working on his project car.
